Trippin'

So a couple of weeks ago we were able to take a mini-vacay and decided to explore some of the towns north of the Bay Area. The girls were excited, as this meant 'special rooms' (hotels) and a promised trip to the Jelly Belly Factory.
It was pretty fun and the girls loved the bag of goodies at the end of the tour best of all! You can't take photos inside the factory (can't let that recipe for Buttered Popcorn or Skunk flavor slip I guess!), so these shots will have to do. Crazy how many beans they make every day and you almost can't take it in when you see it. Joe especially liked the Ronald Reagan connection - I guess they invented the blueberry flavor just so he could have red, white & blue beans on his desk!
P.S The hats were mandatory.

If you're ever in that part of CA, be sure to also visit the towns of Pleasanton & Fairfield - super cute & quaint with amazing scenery. No pics of that, but take our word for it!

Funny story....

So we're in a thrift store (surprising yes, but that's not the funny part) and I'm preoccupied with some old vases and other miscellaneous junk when I hear "Mumma, Mumma look at Lucy!". I turn around and see Lucy with her pants and diaper around her ankles and she is backing up to a little potty chair on the ground, getting ready to 'purchase' it for us! Needless to say, I almost drop the vase and run over and stop the proceedings!

Poor Lucy was a little confused ("I thought you wanted me going in the potty?") and a little bummed not to test out the fancy potty with the lid.

Crisis averted...this time at least. Guess that'll teach 'em not to display their potty's at ground level!

Bilingual?

So I have come across a bit of a dilemma that I was wondering if anyone has any words of wisdom for. In teaching Bella how to read & write I want to know: should I be teaching her the Queen's English, or that of the good ole' US of A?

It goes against every instinct and fibre of my being to write colour without a 'U', and even in writing this sentence I stumbled over the word 'fibre'. Do I teach her that we say 'jumpers' at home, but call them 'sweaters' everywhere else? I don't want to confuse the poor thing, but I also want her to learn what I learnt and have some semblance of Australian-ness! I want her to call me Mum, but I don't want her to be teased to death because she can't spell Mom!

It may seem silly, but I've just been thinking about it lately and was curious if anyone had any thoughts?

Back from the dead....

So I know I haven't posted in FOREVER, but my resolution for 2010 is to be more connected (& consistent!), so while I'm not making any promises I will try to share a pic or 2 before the girls turn 12.
Enjoy it while you can....

Love, hugs & Happy New Year

Warm!

So it's 12.25am and its 80 degrees here....just thought I'd ask for your prayers now, as we'll need them to make it through June & July (and August, and September...)
